Thank you so much to everyone who was able to attend the School Advisory Council meeting this month! We wanted to share some important updates that came up during the evening. This info will also be sent via email to the school community.

Celebrating diversity and inclusivity during the holidays

As part of School Spirit Week, commencing on Monday December 13, the school will be engaging in activities to acknowledge and celebrate the many different cultural traditions and observances that take place at this time of year.

Inclusivity and diversity are important values at Mountview, and our teachers and staff would like to find ways to highlight any holidays or days of significance for the whole school community.

If your family celebrates or observes any specific days this December and January, please email the following info so that it can be incorporated into this season's activities (decorating, classroom discussions, etc.):

  • Name of holiday or day of significance

  • Tell us a little bit about the celebration or how you observe (it can reflect your family's personal take on it and/or a link to background info about the day)

  • Tell us anything you'd like us to know about how you'd like it be represented in our school space

We will make sure these are all included in Spirit Week activities. Please email Patricia with the details at

Holiday Fundraiser

We'll be following up in the coming days with information about holiday fundraising efforts and opportunities to give this season. Please stay tuned for more information via your classroom reps.

This a handy central source of news and information for the Mountview school community. For privacy and safety reasons a login is required to access the site and can be set up in a few easy steps from the homepage. If you're seeing this, chances are you're already signed up! But please feel free to pass this along (copy/paste) to any community members who aren't sure. A guide on how to sign up is included below!

You can find news here, information about SAC meetings and committees, plus discussion boards for each class. The class boards are a platform for the school community to stay connected and share ideas and conversations – but not an official communication channel with the school or your classroom teacher. This website is separate to the school’s official TDSB website and is maintained by SAC volunteers as an information resource for the Mountview community.

How to sign up for the SAC website:

  • Go to

  • Click the Log In button at the top right

  • If new, click Sign Up (in green next to New to this site?)

  • Click Sign up with email at bottom of the page

  • Enter your email address and chosen password

  • Council will review your request and email you back to verify that you’re part of the Mountview school community (you will be asked to provide your child(ren)’s name, grade and their classroom teacher(s)). **Please allow a day or so for this email!**

  • Once approved you can sign in and enjoy the site!

Mountview Community Engagement – call for suggestions

Our SAC Community Engagement Facilitators, Ben Poynton and Lindsay Boyd are keen to hear your suggestions on how to bring the Mountview School community together in ways that are equitable and inclusive. The recent Hike the Humber event was well received with around 40 people from the school community taking part. We are keen to continue organising these types of events and other initiatives to enable Mountview families to connect with each other and the local community. Mountview Open House Planning

Each year in February, Mountview holds an ‘Open House’ event for prospective families. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our open house will be held virtually this year.

We are starting to plan for this event and if you'd like to help out, please email Lauren and Elise at by Monday, December 6. We'll hold an ad-hoc meeting in December to plan our approach - an invite will be sent to those who express interest. There are so many great things to share about our school and community, so we are looking forward to showcasing them!

RCI Robotics Team Sponsorship Opportunity

RCI runs an amazing robotics program and they're looking for sponsors for this season's activities. Please see the sponsorship package information. We encourage you to support if you're able to and please share widely with your networks to help spread the word. Thank you so much for your support!

We are actively looking into ways for Mountview students to become involved in the robotics program. For the time being, with COVID19 protocols, we aren't able to be in the same space together. But we have lots of great ideas to expand the reach of the program for the (hopefully near) future! In the meantime, please consider supporting the program and students for an awesome 2021/22 year.
